Council Meeting Minutes
November 1, 2021
Mayor Roger J. Oberbroeckling opened the meeting at 6:01pm in the Luxemburg City Hall. Present were: Dave Rueber, Helen Deutmeyer, and Rick Steffen, Matt Ramler. Absent-Ungs
Ramler made the motion to approve the agenda for November 1, 2021, second by Deutmeyer.
Steffen made the motion to approve the minutes from October 2021, Seconded by Ramler.
Rueber made the motion to approve the financial report, bills, and receipts as reported, second by Deutmeyer.
The snow bids were open by Mayor Oberbroeckling; bids were received from Schieltz Const. Lansing Bros. Const. and Dave’s Feed Store. The snow contract was awarded to Schieltz Const. on a motion from Rueber, second by Ramler. Ayes- Ramler, Deutmeyer, Rueber. Abstain –Steffen. Absent-Ungs.
The clerk informed the council that the city has five CD’s that are coming up for renewal. The council discussed rates and the length of time to lock CD’s in. The clerk will contact the bank and proceed with six month CD’s.
The Mayor stated that Biechler Electric has two lights for the city and is looking at install this fall yet. The park light is under warranty and will be repaired. The city hall will be getting two new lights by the flag and the monument.
Mayor Oberbroeckling informed the council those 947 feet of curb is being replaced with the Hwy 52/136 project. The council discussed the blacktopping project and timeline of Hwy 52/136.
The council also looked at the information on the utility assistance program available for low income residential homes through HACAP. The Dubuque County contact for this program is Northeast Iowa Community Action at 1-800-873-1899.
